By Gary Guenin

If you want to take your business to higher levels, then you can choose one of many techniques. You must have a variety of marketing strategies in play because depending on just one is dangerous. Since you have a business, then you have long heard of networking and what it can produce for you. There are a lot of ways to go about this such as attending events, or you can meet people randomly and you can set up meetings. However, networking mistakes can make you waste time and so it behooves you to find out about them. Some mistakes are large and others are small, and you need to know about both of them.

There is wisdom for being open and expecting good things when you attach a thought to them like you want to network. Of course, having that many opportunities open to you means that there is a lot of room open to make mistakes which is why you need to read this article. Well, this article is all about avoiding networking blunders that you'll regret the next day.

Do not name drop or use someone's name if you do not have permission to do so. If you think it's all right to do that, then that's fine but I guarantee others won't feel that way. It is much worse to make contact with someone in a business format and drop a name of someone that you both know. This is the type of networking mistake that need not happen regardless of anything. If you need to enhance your street cred, then it's best to find some other way to go about doing it. Just ask the mutual friend to make the introduction.

If you have a hard time with patience, then you'll need to address it because a contact may not produce anything for you - ever. A business contact is not an employee, and you cannot expect them to go to work for you right away. If you want a way to think about networking, then just think of it in terms of expanding and building positive relationships with other businessmen and women. If they know someone who will benefit from your service, they will tell that person about you, and avoid hounding them to ask if they've found any clients or customers for you. You'll need to have the right attitude with business and keep moving forward all the time.

You already know how to networking because you have been doing it all your life. The kinds of networking mistakes can be difficult, but there are always new events you can go to - so there is redemption. The best leverage is learning from others and reading about their experiences.
