You probably know that there is no magic formula to creating a profitable e-mail list. There is no secret method that nobody else knows about. Insider only fancy techniques? None of these exist. Well, okay, there are -but they aren't what get the job done. If you really want to make money on the Internet, with email marketing, a solid foundation is your key to success. The key to building a highly profitable list is using techniques that have been tested and have produced results. It's easy to let these things fall by the wayside when some new and shiny method starts to become popular. They are called tried-and-true because they have a profitable repeatable track record. Never forget the following strategies that we are about to show you.
This method is one that all successful internet marketers employ at one point or another, if not all the time. Take a moment and read through an IM forum and you'll find a ton of posts on email marketing and how important it is. These messages are usually about the newest and most impressive super-secret tactic to earn money. If you really want to implement this strategy to make some nice cash, then you are going to have to strip back the fat and stick to the essentials.
Always remember that the only email address you are going to get, at least in the beginning, is the address that someone thinks you should have. A lot of people will opt-in to an email list with a special email that has been made for that reason alone. What you have to do is impress them with your messages so that they'll want to use their "real" address to sign up. It can be annoying because your list server really can't tell which address is a primary one and which isn't, even if you'd love to have a list that is composed mainly of principle addresses.
Your automatic responder should have the ability to double check, just to make sure people really want to subscribe to your list. As soon as their email address is entered, they should receive an automatic confirmation email. There are a lot of people who sign up for things that they don't want to because of accidents or even plain old curiosity. When you give people the option to opt back out, this might be what keeps them subscribed after all. It shows you care more about them than your profit margin. Ironically, this is what will usually raise your profits by quite a lot.
When your sales start to slow or your list numbers drop, it's easy to jump in and start working overtime to try and fix things. Usually all this does is turn people off. The only way to fix the problem is to make sure you go back to basics. There's a good cause for which you have a strong foundation, isn't there? You'll be surprised at how quickly you can recover once you concentrate on applying what worked for you in the beginning.
